European Fund 2005-2006
One step in the financing of the development strategy
“Organisations without a project become claustrophobic… from then on, hope vanishes. The present becomes a booty of which everybody wants a share”
                                                                              Jean-Claude Guillebaud
Ideas and consultation regarding the Somme Estuary OGS (Opération Grand Site) have made it possible to identify formally all the strengths and weaknesses of each point around the area. A number of dossiers within the project-tendering exercise have been declared eligible for European funding by the relevant departments.
Conservation and enhancement of nature areas, urban and environment redefinition,
management of population flow and methods, well planned area development: these four operational avenues have been illustrated for each geographical area by an action programme aimed at responding to the Somme Estuary’s OGS diagnostic.
Following this award of European funding, we will look to complete the financing of the projects by seeking partnerships with the region, Departement and the Communes involved.
This financing gives renewed impetus to our development strategy stamped with sustainable development.

Avenue de la Plage at Fort-Mahon
Launch of the second phase of work
im_005.jpg
Fort Mahon Plage Council has always considered that the enhancement of public spaces is a strategically essential policy. Following the ideas session of October 1995, Avenue de la Plage, the backbone of the area, was identified as warranting priority treatment. Three years ago, this Avenue saw the first phase of work. The participation of property owners ensured its success and the effect of building frontages contributed fully to the urban renewal.
Encouraged by this success, the second phase from Place de l’Eglise to Place Bewdley has just been started and will be
completed towards Autumn 2005.
In order to strengthen its growth, Fort-Mahon Plage will acquire a new decision-making support tool, a Mission for Urban Assistance; this will be achieved by recruiting a team of architects, urban
planners and landscape designers for a period of 3 years. The objective of this Mission for Urban Assistance is to succeed in the transformation from “seaside resort” to “seaside town”.
One stretch completed, another one started
