1996-1998 - Coastal Picardy strives towards sustainable development.

The SMACOPI’s technical document : “1996-1998 - Côte Picarde, l’objectif d’un développement durable” (1996-1998, striving towards sustainable development in Coastal Picardy), realised jointly by the Mixed Syndicate for Management of Coastal Picardy and the Somme Department Tourism Board, has just been printed. The aim of this document is not to present the full range of projects, but rather to present lines of progress for planning initiatives leading up to 1998. Introductory words, a press review, “others’ words”, commentaries by French or international journalists about Coastal Picardy, all highlight the road taken. The document deals with three themes which correspond to the SMACOPI’s areas of work : preserving the natural heritage, the towns and villages of Coastal Picardy whose urban setting has to be renovated and tourist establishments (accommodations and leisure facilities). This document is available with a simple written request sent to the SMACOPI.

Opened in 1993, the Belle-Dune Golf has been registering a continual increase in visitor numbers : more than 13 000 daily memberships for 1995, 60% of them were European players amongst whom many are British in origin.

This splendid building of 300 m2 houses :
a bar, a restaurant, changing rooms, a shop and a reception area

Belle-Dune was missing a proper Club House to welcome golfers playing on one of France’s 10 most beautiful course. Vast and well adapted to patron expectations it is also faithful to Coastal Picardy’s spirit of environmental protection. The new Club House was inaugurated last may 7th, during the 3rd “Pro Am de la Côte d’Opale” contest (between Belle-Dune, Wimereux, Le Touquet and Hardelot).
