"To train in the environment and raise environmental awareness"

After signing an agreement a few weeks ago with the GSM Group to re-develop some of the gravel pits once the extraction of material is over, the Mixed Syndicate for Coastal Management in Picardy has ratified another co-operation accord this time with the CPIE (Permanent Center for Environmental Inition). The latter was represented by its President and General Councillor, M. Moularde. This event took place Thursday April 20th 1995 in the Cap Hornu Residence. The CPIE will be able to use a reception area, cum office and a pedagogical room available within the resort. With this coastal presence the C.P.I.E.-Valley of the Somme will be able to organise environmental discovery outings along the shoreline.
The opening of a sea Kayak centre in the Cap Hornu must also be mentioned. This is the result of a close collaboration between the C.P.I.E. and the kayak team of the “Quesnoy Loisirs” Club who will be in charge of this new centre. Without doubt these initiatives will contribute to the development of numerous pedagogical events in partnership with the National Education Board. The SMACOPI, beyond its role as manager of natural sites, is happy to encourage environmental awareness raising organisations that contribute to preserve the originality and specificity of our protected coastline.

Coastal Picardy Aquaclub
celebrates 10 years of existence

indoors and outdoors, the Coastal PicardyAquaclub has pleasant aquatic games

Inaugurated in 1985, Coastal Picardy Aquaclub is celebrating its 10 years of existence. Each year it attracts 70 000 visitors. Changes to the building carried out because of the opening of the Belle Dune Des Golf in 1993, include a new reception area, shop and above all the creation of a restaurant called "Le Bistrot de la Dune". The aquatic park blends fun games : huge slides, wavy pool, water geysers all in the indoor area heated at 30° Celsius or else outdoors, with a health centre : solarium, sauna, sun beds, Turkish baths, healthy showers and two tennis courts. The Aquaclub is opened from the 15th of April to the 3rd of September 1995
